What is a Boudoir shoot?
A boudoir is a lady’s private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. Most of us don’t have these in our homes anymore, but a woman still has that need to be in her private space where she can be herself without the prejudice of the world about the way she looks or acts. The boudoir shoot aims to capture those moments where femininity can blossom.
Is it right for me?
Boudoir shoots are not only for lingerie models. Brides-to-be who want to surprise their future husbands with very special and intimate gifts do these shoots. Older ladies are doing it to either spice up their lives or to get that special feeling about being their glamorous best. Younger ladies are doing to liberate themselves from their own inhibitions and insecurities.
Whether the pictures are for yourself or your partner, this session is about capturing your feminine essence on camera. That essence is not dependent on your skin colour, body type, age, etc. Being beautiful is about believing that you are beautiful.
Who will be there?
A typical shoot will be you, the photographer and one of your friends. You will be there, because this shoot is obviously all about you. The photographer needs to be there because despite the wonderful advances in camera technology, cameras can’t create art by themselves, yet. Your friend will be there to help you feel comfortable, and also acts as the photographer’s assistant to move a strand of hair or to position a piece of clothing. Your privacy is one of the highest priorities.
How long will the shoot be and how many outfits will I need?
The shoot is about 2 – 3 hours . A typical shoot will have 3 – 6 outfit changes during the time of the shoot. A few shots with a prop to highlight personality always work well. I do not supply any lingerie for the shoot as I would prefer you to wear what makes you feel comfortable. I don’t think you would fit into my underwear anyway. Feel free to bring anything with you to accessorize your shoot and make it a more personalized experience. Pearls, frills and lace add detail if you are a frills and lace lady.
I am a little uncomfortable about nudity. Do you do nude photos?
Nudity is a personal choice and is certainly not necessary to still create sexy and seductive images. Sexy isn’t always about how much you show, it’s all about how you show it. How much you choose to show is entirely up to you, but the end result will always be done with style. These pictures are not intended for cheap girly magazines after all.
Where will the shoot be done?
As with most things during the shoot, it depends on your personal preference. The shoot can be done at your home, a friend’s home or at a photographic studio that has the necessary privacy.
Do you need hair and make-up services?
A professional make-up artist can really create a stunning look to enhance your appearance for your photoshoot. Some brides do their wedding make-up trails as part of their shoot. Other ladies prefer to do their own make-up and hair. Some ladies even prefer to have an absolutely natural look. Either way, it is up to you.
Will the photos be retouched?
The simple answer is yes, but not in the way you think it will be. This is not about changing the way you look, it is about changing the light, exposure, contrasts, etc. to bring out the best in your look! Although I enhance your images to the best quality and do retouching on acne, scars, blue marks, etc, I do not offer intensive retouching wrinkles, cellulite and major stretch marks to the extent that you end up looking like a porcelain doll. I pride myself in capturing the best of you as you and not as someone you are not or an unrealistic version of you.
Will my images be shown on your website or any other places?
NO IMAGES will ever be shared with anyone other than yourself on ANY form of media (printed, digital, online, or other) without your specific permission.
